How to maintain the faucet?

Your OTOL product is designed for a lifetime of use with minimal maintenance. Basic cleaning involves wiping the faucet with hot water and then drying it. Regular attention will prevent stains and dirt from accumulating.

We do not recommend using any type of commercial household cleaners on our products. Changes in the chemical formula of these products may harm the finish of your sink or faucet. We recommend using Bio-Clean to clean all OTOL fixtures and fittings.

OTOL fully stands behind the integrity of its products. These recommended guidelines are designed to address most maintenance issues. If you have further questions about the care of your OTOL products, please contact any OTOL authorized dealer, or call our technical support team directly at 400-098-2200

What is the standard hole size required for a single hole bathroom faucet installation?

The standard hole size for a single-hole faucet is 35mm

What type of valve cartridge does the faucet have?

All OTOL faucets are equipped with ceramic valve core.

What faucet do I need for a countertop mounted stainless steel sink?

You’ll want a tall faucet that’s between 12″ and 13″ tall.
Spout reach, the distance from the center of the faucet body to the aerator, is an important consideration. Make sure the spout is long enough to work with your existing sink.

Are stainless steel kitchen sinks coated for sound insulation?

Stainless steel sinks can come with soundproofing materials and coatings to help with soundproofing. Insulation can also reduce the build-up of condensation at the base of the sink, which can sometimes cause moisture issues in the base cabinet where the sink sits. Not all stainless steel sinks have this feature, but it’s especially worth considering sinks with thinner gauges to reduce the metallic sound they make when struck.

What are the specifications and grades of stainless steel kitchen sinks?

There are two important elements you’ll see in the specifications of stainless steel kitchen sinks: chromium and nickel. They enhance the quality of the steel, giving it strength and corrosion resistance, which is essential to the functionality of a kitchen sink.

The gauge represents the thickness of the stainless steel kitchen sink. Thickness ranges from 16″ to 20″. We recommend 16 mm sinks as they will be the most durable option and will most likely outlast your kitchen. Stainless steel sinks are often marked with a “18:8” ratio, which refers to the amount of chromium and nickel in the steel. In this case, the steel contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel.

The higher the content of these elements, the better the grade of stainless steel. The series number usually indicates the grade of steel. Stainless steel sinks are usually in the “300” series (especially 304) because they are made of high-quality steel with a chromium/nickel ratio of 18:8 to 20:10.

Ceramic basin care and maintenance

For everyday cleaning, warm water and a mild detergent are all that’s needed. While minimal maintenance is required to protect and preserve the lustrous finish of a ceramic sink, the use of harsh chemicals is usually unnecessary.

How durable are ceramic basin sinks?

Not only is ceramic extremely durable, stain-, scratch-, and chip-resistant, it’s also one of the easiest sink/vanity materials to maintain.

Is there a difference between a ceramic sink and a porcelain sink?

Porcelain is a ceramic material made by heating raw materials (usually clay) in the form of kaolin in a kiln at temperatures between 1,200 °C (2,192 °F) and 1,400 °C (2,552 °F). Porcelain’s toughness, strength, and translucency are the result of glass and mullite forming within the material during high-temperature firing.

What is the difference between undercounter, abovecounter, wall-mounted, and pedestal vessel sinks?
  • Standard undermount sinks are recessed into the countertop and require an undermount faucet.
  • Ceramic vessel sinks require a standard above-counter installation and must be equipped with a vessel faucet.
  • Ceramic sinks are also available for above-counter installation, but there is a hole in the bottom of the sink for an undermount faucet.
  • Pedestal ceramic sinks require floor-standing installation and work best with undermount faucets.
  • Wall-mounted ceramic sinks also work best with undermount faucets.
